We are three siblings from Germany, planning to cross the USA by bike in the summer of 2016.
During our studies, we have discovered bicycle tours as a fascinating way of traveling. Shorter European tours included final destinations as Paris, Rome and Prague. Meanwhile the idea of crossing the United States of America from East to West, from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, has arisen.
However, rather incompatible class and exam schedules have made the planning of a suitable traveling date difficult. Now, close to the end of our studies, the summer of 2016 fits into everyone's schedule and gives the great chance to us to face the eagerly awaited challenge.
Heading westwards was kind of a logical decision: Although we may be complaining about strong headwinds, experiencing the spirit of moving west predominated. Thus, we are going to start in New York City on July 23rd and return home from Los Angeles 86 days later on October 17th. Stops on our tour will include the cities of Chicago, Las Vegas and San Francisco. Remarkable landmarks are the Niagara Falls, the Rocky Mountains and the Arches and Yosemite National Parks.
On this traveling blog we would like to share our journey with you: The experiences of the traveling days, a selection of pictures and the routing as it will be developing throughout the journey.
