After a short night without having much sleep on the aircraft, we were served a decent breakfast: two rolls, some cheese, sausage and fruit with coffee and orange juice. Shortly after the breakfast we approached Düsseldorf Airport and landed about thirty minutes before the scheduled arrival.

Catching the Aircraft back to Germany

After almost three months of cycling the United States our final day has come. If departing as scheduled our plane will take off at 6pm from LAX. While Lea gratefully accepted Thuans offer of giving us a ride to the Airport, Simon and Jona insisted on doing this last miles by bike as well. Thus we left Thuan’s house in Downtown LA at half past nine and started out for the airport south of Venice Beach.

Cycling Festival in Downtown

This morning Thuan told us about a big cycling event taking place in Downtown Los Angeles today. Miles if the inner city area would be closed for cars and the wide streets would be opened for cyclists. We decided to join Thuan who wanted to go (ride) there anyway. The French couple, Bruno and Isabelle also came with us.

Today the vacation of our journey went on. We got up late, had great breakfast together with Thuan, shortly met his daughter, her husband and their children who living in the second floor and took the bus to Santa Monika.

After we got up this morning, the first thing we were able to enjoy was the magnificent view from Thuang's backyard over the skyline of Los Angles, still being partly hidden by the fog coming in from the Pacific Ocean. Sleeping in a large tent on a soft mattress has quite some advantages!
